Silverberry Bonsai

Botanical name: Elagnus

Silverberry are a very vibrant evergreen tree that feature unique texture on its foliage. Silverberry's can be trained very easily.  They back bud well and they respond well to defoliation during the late summer. The foliage is very hardy and can withstand many climates making it a great tree for beginners

Checking watering daily is important for Silverberry because compared to other evergreen they tend to dry out more and require more water.

Hardy Bonsai material needs to be wintered over in a protected cold spot so that they can go through their natural dormancy period.  Inside an unheated garage, cold frame, or bury in the ground with good insulation for the roots.
