Hinoki Cypress Bonsai

Botanical name: Chamaecyparis obtusa

 

Hinoki Cypress make such beautiful unique Bonsai.  With their soft foliage, showy bark and capability to be trained in many different styles.  There are many different cultivars of Hinoki Cypress out there, with Sekka and Nana being two we commonly carry along with others.

 

Checking watering daily is important for Hinoki Cypress because you can overwater them just as easy as you can underwater them.

Hardy Bonsai material needs to be wintered over in a protected cold spot so that they can go through their natural dormancy period.  Inside an unheated garage, cold frame, or bury in the ground with good insulation for the roots.
