Bald Cypress Bonsai

Botanical name: Taxodium distichum

Bald Cypress have beautiful reddish brown bark and soft, needle-shaped leaves which develop a nice auburn color in the fall.  They grow fast and are great trees to practice pruning.  They absolutely love water.  Nearly impossible to over water Bald Cypress.  This makes them such a wonderful tree to Bonsai.

Hardy Bonsai material needs to be wintered over in a protected cold spot so that they can go through their natural dormancy period.  Inside an unheated garage, cold frame, or bury in the ground with good insulation for the roots.
