Grasses
Schizachyrium scoparium
Little bluestem

Slender blue-green stems grow into upright clumps, then turn warm copper and orange in autumn. Fine, fluffy seed heads and standing stems carry texture into winter. This native prairie grass is a strong choice for sunny, low-water borders and meadow plantings, especially in lean soil where it keeps a sturdier form.
