Malpighia coccigera
Singapore holly
Also known as Miniature holly, Barbados holly.
Singapore holly is a tropical evergreen with very small, glossy leaves and distinctive toothed edges. Pink or white flowers and red fruit can add seasonal interest.
Despite its common name, it is not a true holly. Its miniature foliage makes it appealing for bonsai where the relationship between leaf size and branching is important. It is a different species from Barbados cherry, which has broader leaves.
