Meet our bonsai
Carissa macrocarpa
Natal plum
Also known as Carissa grandiflora.
Natal plum combines shiny, leathery leaves with fragrant white flowers and distinctive forked thorns. Dark foliage and pale blooms give this tropical bonsai interest beyond its trunk and branching.
It belongs to the dogbane family and is not a true plum. Its dense, woody growth makes a different impression from many tropical figs. Take care when handling the branches because the paired thorns can be sharp.
