Meet our bonsai
Pinus densiflora
Japanese red pine
Also known as Akamatsu.
Japanese red pine has slender, paired green needles and bark that develops warm orange red tones. Compared with Japanese black pine, its finer needles give the foliage a lighter, more delicate appearance.
A traditional bonsai species, Japanese red pine offers character in both its bark and branching. Its growth and pruning response differ from single flush pines, so pine techniques should always be matched to the species.
