Meet our bonsai
Terminalia molinetii
Dwarf black olive
Also known as Bucida spinosa, Bucida molinetii, Spiny black olive.
Dwarf black olive has small, glossy leaves and an angular branching pattern that naturally changes direction as it grows. Its layered foliage gives this tropical bonsai a character quite different from the rounded canopy of a ficus.
Despite its common name, this is not the Mediterranean olive, Olea europaea. Fine foliage and unusual branch movement are its main attractions, with older trunks adding texture and a stronger sense of age. It is still widely known as Bucida spinosa.
